Lori McAlister

Hi I'm Lori!

I found yoga many moons ago, back when I was earning my BFA in Dance at Emerson College. When my dance professor said she meditated an ovarian cyst away I was sold.

After graduating in 1999 I moved to New York City where I started taking group yoga classes. There was something mystical and magical about my experiences on the mat. The movement meditation lulled me into a sacred space where I could do the deep reflective work I needed to grow and heal.

I finally did a 200 hour teacher training in 2004 in an Ashtanga-based vinyasa program and jumped into teaching full-time within a year. Over the next decade I studied with Dharma Mitra, Sharon Gannon and David Life (founders of Jivamukti), Alan Finger, Cyndi Lee, Twee Merrigan, Coral Brown, Shiva Rea, Rodney Yee, John Friend, Kaustaub Desikachar, Schuyler Grant, Alex Auder, Nikki Villela, Elena Brower and countless other vinyasa teacher colleagues. Having now taught all over the globe, I have been on several teacher training staffs, was the managing teacher at a local Philly studio, and led their inaugural 500 hour teacher training. I created Sequencology, a yoga teacher training that combines intelligent sequences along with subtle body support to effectively transport the practitioner into a state of homeostasis. My husband's new job required us to leave NYC in 2015 and we now live on the main line with our two children.

My classes focus on the power of breath, anatomical alignment, and subtle body energetic awareness. The combination of these elements can open a portal for self-healing by calming the central nervous system and resetting the rest and digest function.

Lori McAlister instructs the following:
  • Hatha + Meditation
  • Hatha is a traditional style of practice focusing on alignment in foundational postures. You’ll awaken self-awareness, and build strength and flexibility, by spending more time in each posture to witness the effects in your body, mind & spirit.

Meditation (5 – 10 mins) gives you the opportunity to listen to your inner wisdom and connect deeper with your true self.

    All levels welcome.
