August Mantra - One with Nature

Well hello there August! Perhaps this is a time when you journey outside of your daily routines for vacation, for a day out in the sun, or for completing a task you've set aside to accomplish when it's nice out. In this journey outside of routine, we can remind ourselves to stay connected to nature, both our inner nature of who we are and the natural world around us. This month on our mats we'll dig deeper into the 5 elements within us and nature, and our combined union. See you soon!

July Mantra - Tapas (self-discipline)

Accepting that life is not easy and we all face hardship, our Monthly Mantra for July reminds us to stay the course. Our daily practices of tapas, or self-discipline, can teach us how to pick ourselves up and deal with whatever life throws our way, and that can be a profound transformation in our lives.

Here's some inspiration from author Deborah Adele: "In those times when we don't know how to get through the next minute of what seems unknown and overwhelming to us, can we hold on until we are somehow blessed by our struggle? Discipline will mold us into someone of great depth and profoundness if we let it. Can we stand the heat of being dismantled and changed forever by the fire?"

June Mantra - Ishvara Prandihana

With our June mantra of Ishvara Prandihana we hope to inspire students to give to themselves and others without wanting or expecting anything in return. It's this selfless giving without expectation that gives back more than we can imagine. Spreading love, generosity and resources builds us all up!

May Mantra - Sthira / Sukha

Finding the balance of effort and ease on and off the mat is our mantra for May. When life pulls at you and is asking for more effort, how can you maintain equal amounts of ease? Learn more on your mat and then take your knowledge with you off your mat and into your daily life. Balance brings harmony and peace.

April's Mantra - Plant the Seed

Now is the time to let go of the old and welcome the new! Think of yourself as a garden of fertile soil from all of your life lessons.....what seeds do you want to plant for yourself as you continue to grow as the precious human being you are?

Santosha - March Mantra

Being in the present moment and accepting it just the way it is can be very challenging for many people (including me) in a world full of pressure and stress. When we don't accept the moment as it is and we constantly try to control or change it we're just creating more and more stress. And stress does awful things to our body, mind & spirit. Right now, for just a moment, breathe and just be. No judgement, no expectations, just breathe. Acceptance frees the spirit and lifts the heart. I'm so excited to focus on Santosha (contentment) all during the month of March!

Loving Kindness

I'm in love with our theme for February, Loving Kindness. I know it sounds cheesy, but it's true. During every class in February our teachers are guiding Loving Kindness meditation (Metta) and it warms my heart every time. Students are sharing #offthematmoments of practicing Loving Kindness and it is wonderful to hear how they are embracing this practice. We can make a difference in the world one meditation at a time.

Mindfulness & Meditation Workshop

It was so exciting to have a full studio of students wanting to know more about Mindfulness & Meditation. What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon! Mindfulness & Meditation changed my life and my hope is that these students found inspiration to start or deepen their practice. Allowing stillness in the body and mind has so many wonderful benefits and reduced stress is just one of them!

I can't wait to plan the next Mindfulness & Meditation workshop! Hope to see you then!

Be True to You

Happy New Year! The beginning of a new year is always so exciting to me and I love the feeling of embracing new ways to approach life. What I've realized over the years is that the most important thing I can do when I decide I want to change something in my life, is to stay true to who I am and never try to be anyone else. My yoga practice taught me this important lesson.

It doesn't matter what anyone else is doing. Just do you! Happiness is at its highest level when we stay connected and rooted to our unique soul.

May you have a wonderful 2017 full of yoga and everything else you love to do with your life!

Your PRESENCE is the most important gift.

During the busy holiday season it's so easy to get "wrapped up" in the gift giving and forget that YOU are the most important present. I hope you'll take time each day for yourself and allow your yoga practice to guide you in being "in the moment" and present, no matter how you spend your time over the next couple of weeks. Have a wonderful Holiday season and hope to see you on your mat soon!
